The Case for Action
The Commercial Determinants of Health (CDOH) represent complex socio-political phenomena that impact the health of populations globally but often require action to be taken locally or regionally, particularly in the context of Canada with its three levels of government—federal, provincial and municipal. While research on the CDOH is growing internationally, we have identified a gap in the translation of this research into action within the Atlantic region. Our flagship project seeks to address this gap and engage public health practitioners and policymakers with researchers regionally and globally to catalyze action on the CDOH.
Our Flagship Project
HPI's Commercial Determinants of Health Flagship Project Team is proud to announce ‘Catalyzing Action on the Commercial Determinants of Health in Atlantic Canada,’ a project funded by CIHR aimed at population health practitioners, policymakers and researchers across Atlantic Canada. Our intention is to build foundations that will later enable local population health leaders to engage in more expansive global collaboration on this topic by way of establishing a thriving Community of Practice.
